Quick Question

Have you ever seen a Pontiac Engine that didn't have the Vin stamped in it.
I am looking at a Low Mile 79 - 400 4spd.

It has the PWH stamped in it, but there is no Vin.

I attached a picture so you can see it - What's your take on this???

Thanks - Tom

...hmm...

I never saw an engine with a "VIN".... :D

...but in 1979 "PWH" was the Block Code for a 400 cui-Pontiac-engine...

Block-Codes:
400 (Pontiac-V8 ): PWH (stamped)
403 (Olds-V8 ) : Q6,QE,QJ,QK,QL,TF (code was on a sticker attached to valve covers)

Maybe an ZZ-engine out of the GM-Performance Division! But not with 400 cui !

Hi Tom

It's absolut correct engine for a 1979 Trans Am. "PWH" is the 400 cui Pontiac engine with 220 hp. Also coded "W72". It's a very fine Pontiac performance engine and it gave him in 1979 only in connection with the 4 speed manual.
