Shifter Pointer doesn't work

Howdie,
I have a small prob with my '91 Bird:
The pointer of my autoshifter doesn't follow the selectorhandle...
Does anyone knows how to repair this thing or has it to be replaced? I've opened the console but I saw not so much because of the verry short cables...
