Hello,

The shifter indicator of my auto trans doesn't work.
( 1991 Firebird 3.1L V6 )
So the red dot doesn't move when you shift the P-R-N-(D)-D-2-1 pattern.
Does anyone has the same malfunction? How can it be repaired? Haynes doen't contain this topic.

Thanks !

Hey Xavier!

My 91 Firebird has the same malfunction, but the shifter indicator is very simple build.

There is only a plastic assembly with an hole in it and through this hole goes the shifter stick. And when you shift then this plastic assembly moves with the stick, very simple.

The red dot is at this assembly ,naturally.

Maybe you can stick the dot , but I think that doesn't work very long. So buy a new one or maybe you get one of a slaughtered bird ?

I hope you understand my crazy english :D

Christian

Hoi Christian,

OK ! Thanks for the info. I will try to open that assembly looking if it's possible to repair, otherwise I'll search a new 'pointer' ... .

Greetz,

Xavier ;)

PS: There's nothing crazy about your English !! 8)
